ColecoVision™ - Logo (Small)Donkey Kong Junior™ for ColecoVision™ - Box (Front)Donkey Kong Junior™ was the sequel to Donkey Kong™ and when it came out for Coleco Vision™, I had to have it. I still remember the day my dad brought it home from Duane’s Toyland for me! What a great day! I played this game a ton! Climbing vines and chains and dropping fruit on the bad guys heads was the best! Three levels doesn’t sound like much anymore, but it was about high scores back then and I had tons of fun playing this game! I have two of these. One is complete and one is just the cartridge and booklet.

From the back of the box:

Donkey Kong Junior™ for ColecoVision™ - Box (Back)The tables have turned, and now Mario™ has Papa Donkey Kong™ locked in a cage! Surrounded by jaw-snapping creatures, Donkey Kong Junior™ climbs and swings across vines to reach a special key. If he’s successful, he advances to another screen and must pickup even more keys. He can earn extra points by plucking fruit to bonk his opponents. Sharpen your skills to master three great screens.

Donkey Kong Junior™ for ColecoVision™ - Cartridge and Instruction BookletIn my opinion, Donkey Kong Junior™ is one of the greatest arcade sequels of all time. The ColecoVision™ version was the best console version of its day. It had 3 out of the 4 levels from the arcade version and they were all done very well. The play control and sound were top notch (again, for their day). The difficulty level on this game was a little easy, but scoring a really high score was difficult and somehow, I never got tired of playing the same three levels over and over. I have many many hours logged on this game! I highly recommend the ColecoVision™ version of this game to anyone who loves Donkey Kong Junior™ and has never played this version. Yes, I saved time by using almost the same review from Donkey Kong™ for Coleco Vision, but it all applies to this game as well.
